the treasury of knowledge

well there's now a treasury i can visit beside junction8 which is about 500m away from home. it is a place filled with wonderful newly purchased books and audiovisual items that can be borrowed if you are a trustworthy singaporean free from any crime or legal allegations.
ha it is called the BISHAN COMMUNITY LIBRARY.
even though i have only been there for the 2nd time, my hour spent here was surprisingly splendid.
but no, all singaporeans please take note do not flock from your friendly neighbourhood libraries just because they are abit older and dilapidated compared to this. yes the books are newly-bought you can just see this from the wonderful wrinkle-free bookspines and the book with papers that are marvelously beige all neatly arranged. O if you are a stephen king or dean koontz fan you get 2 entire bookselves worth of books for your viewing pleasure. but still just try not to jam up the place k.
the lack of a very resourceful mind led me to find out that one can be a premium member so that one can borrow 8 more books and cd/vcd/dvd for a little more than 20 bucks per annum. haha wow better late than never.
ok let me stress one more time just to tantalise everyone that the books are really new HAHAHAHAHA
it is also commendable that the library engages really polite customer service officers who really smile. well done who says singaporean hospitality and service are lousy. and national library board has new plastic bags for the distressed customer who forgot to bring any bag to carry his/her barang barang or loot whichever you want to call it.
the architectural outlook of the building was futuristic with coloured rectangular boxes jutting out of the building here and there so that boisterous students of 5-6 can squeeze all they want in this little space without really posing as an eyesore. o these spaces serve as pretty romantic corners for couples to laze around too. i shall go and sit in one of the cozy little corners one rainy day and look at the raindrop trickle down the tinted glass and read a book and waste my afternoon away.
o the only unpleasing factor is that the journey from the ground floor to the 2nd floor can take ages to walk. the effort to beautify the surroundings and make use of the gigantic space with a gentle-gradient floor that is filled with informative human-size exhibits instead of a practical set of staircase is really greatly appreciated but.... ok i shall just take the lift next time.
haha shall stop scrutinizing. the new library is great, it makes bishan a nicer place to live in.
o this makes the bishan library my second favourite hangout after the united square starbucks glasshouse.

bah one of the two stems of my dear cactus fell off mysteriously yesterday. it is now buried beside the main stem.
